You might be better off using a planer to remove the 2mm actually

Possibly I am not very handy, but my first thought was an electric Buzzer which is the same as a planer and then a light sand with a belt sander.
How long do you think it will take ? I have an electric orbital sander

An orbital sander may not do the job, I think a flat belt electric sand would be necessary to keep the surface flat. The orbital sander would I beleive create highs and low spots.
With the right equipment should not take longer than 30 to 45 minutes
