I need quotes for someone to remove 2 besser brick retaining walls and install 2 new retaining walls (please advice on materials). One wall is approx. 4m long (the stairs are not being replaced) the other is approx. 6 meters long. Both are about 80cm high. Attached are a couple of photos. You will need to give me a firm quote as I have no idea how much this will cost - I've just put $1,000 to post the advertisement.

Hi Peter
The main consideration is cost effectiveness - this is a rental property. Termites are my other consideration in the materials chosen. There is a water pipe running from the garden tap to the front of the property (see photo). It would be nice if the driveway could be wider but that is secondary. The current walls lean in toward the driveway. The date is flexible as I'm having a couple of other things done over the next few weeks. Happy for you to look at the site.
Check out a company called Durawall. At Murrarie. I've built one and it's a very good product that really looks good and will last a lifetime. And reasonabley priced. The job i did was 10m long X 1m high and Durawall supplied and delivered to Ferny hills for $1025 in dec last year to give you a rough idea. They didn't offer installation back then but there's plenty of good people on here to do the job

Hi Scott
Thanks very much for the tip - I'll go and have a look.
Hi Mary, I was wondering whether u want a brick retaining build back or would u prefer a sleeper retaining wall?
As I can do the sleeper retaining wall bcoz I'm a fully qualified carpenter and I can build it for you
Regards Phil :)

Hi Philip
I'm not fussed about what type of wall it is, but I do get concerned about termites so I'm not sure about sleepers unless they are termite proof. This is a rental property so I'm not looking for an expensive wall. The current wall needs to be demolished and removed. If the driveway could be a bit wider that would be nice but there is a water pipe running from the garden tap to the front of the property.
Thanks Mary. I think you have two main options here. Firstly a timber sleeper wall. Secondly a decorative concrete sleeper wall. Do you want the new walls to stop up and down like the old block ones do?

Hi David
Thanks for your response. This is a rental property so I just want the retaining walls replaced as cost effectively and to be as safe as possible. I am also very concerned about termite infestation and I'm not sure how timber sleepers would go in that regard. If they could make the driveway a bit wider that would be nice - I don't mind if they are at an angle but there is a water pipe about 50 cm from the shorter wall running from the garden tap to the front of the property.
