I have a website written in [Content Moderated] that I currently work on using Visual Web Developer 2008. The main use for the site is as a 'Gift registry' so it uses (really basic) logins and a database. I'd like to:

- move and reconfigure the code so that I can edit it in Visual Studio 2012 Express
- move the database from an 'Access' file to a 'MySQL' file that I'm paying for but not using.
- redo the logins so that they use VS2012 login system, or better still login with facebook*.

- re-write it using C#

*The tricky part is that the select query differs depending on who's logged in, so I'm thinking it may require someone who's been around the block a couple of times as far as programming .net.

Hey Paul. Thanks for your reply. Will bid and take a closer look. My email is [admin: private contact details hidden (Airtasker trust and safety policy). Private messaging feature available once task assigned] if you want to send through the code. Cheers!

Seeing as there's little interest in this, I'm happy to not hold you to account if you bid. That way, I can pass on the login details and you can give a more informed opinion.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for posting.

In technical speak, once a person logs in they're directed to a page with a Gridview. Depending on who's logged in, the gridview is linked to a different Select statement (or more accurately the same Select statement with a Where clause linked to a variable). I took me a while to figure out the Update etc code. A lot of its done in the back (vb) end but it should be transferable. I just don't have the time or patience to get past these hurdles.
I'd be happy to convert your project from VS2008 ro VS2012, convert from Access to MySQL. Will need to see the login code before agreeing to changing that; hooking up to facebook won't be a problem but will need to discuss how you want that to work. If it's working in VB.NET, why re-write? It all ends up as the same bytecode! :) Can you be more specific on what you want the login to do before I bid?
