I have 6RU of patch panels /switches/modem that need to come out of an 18RU floor standing cabinet and into a wall mounted 6RU cabinet. My office is near Wynyard in Sydney CBD.

The shelving will be installed on Friday so I need someone to work with / around the installers to migrate the equipment.

Although it's a relatively quick job itself, it's likely to be a couple of hours - maybe three because of the installation of the shelves - the gear may need to be taken out so the installers can spend an hour putting the shelf up...

Hi,

Happy to do this for you as I have extensive experience in IT over the last 15 years including datacentre cabling.

I can see around 35 active ports from the pics, they need to be audited, unplugged, taken out. then wait for 3rd party install of rack and reinstall all ports. I can't take responsibility for things physically fitting, the equipment coming back up in the correct configuration or at all as i am not being asked to audit that component.

thanks

Hi Ian, can you please take a wide picture of where the cables come in (usually at the back or through the top)

Here you go

It's a bit tight to get a photo. Rack should have top panels to get the patches out.

Note the whole top of the cabinet comes off.
Btw. Is the hole in the cabinet big enough to pass through the fibre device?
Photo of current hole on top of cabinet?

Ive undone the front bolts and lifted up the top a bit. The fan tray would need to come out too i think.
Another question, do you have a sys admin or plan in case the equipment faults (often happens when it moves as configs may not be saved or the magic dust is unsettled).

Hi there. No servers - just fibre, patches, Watchguard router, and 2 switches. All cloud stuff. we have a 4g internet back up and offsite IT standing by who manages the Watchguard.
Can you confirm if the installers will handle cabling and this is an equipment move only or does it involve recabling? Also has the outage been arranged with the business?

Thanks Syd. This is really just an equipment move but I still want someone who knows what they are doing. It shouldn't need re cabling if we are careful with the patch panels. The installers are electricians but they are really residential specialists doing me a favour by wall mounting the new 6ru cabinet to a concrete pillar where the old cabinet is.
And yes, it's a small office so the outage is fine.
Any photos of current set up?
