Current gate keeps shifting/jamming as frame and timber is too heavy.
Gate is a custom size I have been told. Pictures provided.

Job specifics:
1. removal of current gate
2. replacement with a new timber gate that is both lighter and reasonably long-lasting (due to it being in a spot exposed to the elements)
3. a new lock fitted (same/similar to current one i.e. suitable for outdoor use, locks from inside, has ability to 'snib' or lock barrel in/out (so I don't get locked out!)
4. the current handle & gate # to be re-used on new gate

Approx dimensions of current gate:
Width:115cm
Height: 185cm

Our quote includes all materials, labor and service fees. This quote is conditional on site inspection. As we have a few ideas for the gate.

Hi Bridget
How are you.
Is it the gate that catches or just the locking unit.
The problem is most likely caused by not enough clearance between the posts when the fence was redone.
The steel frame should be pretty solid and shouldn't bend/warp.
Happy to have a look at some options for you.

Thanks
Justin
Bridget your gate is heavy because it is clad with decking timber for some reason. My advice is not to ditch the steel frame. It is the best option for a gate. It will outlast a timber frame by far. Timber framed tend to sag and go out of square and not cope with the elements. Remove the decking and repainted the frame. Look at changing the hinges to better quality ones. Make sure it's hung true. Have it covered with lighter palings. Dave - decades of experience.
Hi Bridget I'm a qualified carpenter with over ten years experience I have done plenty of quality timber fences and gates of this design.
Click on my profile and you will see i have good rating and comments and completion rate is 75% as iam still working on projects... so there not 100% yet.
Otherwise you will just get a bacpacker do the job and you'll end up with the same problem again wen the wet weather comes back.
