Hi Lauren. I have dogs of my own and have recently completed a task to help somebody out with house training.
I am local to you and happy to help out. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi! I'm an experienced dog Walker and happy to help walk your dog while you are at work a few days a week. I'm around your area walking other dogs so I can do one on one time. Thanks Vicky

Get a roll of masking tape. You wrap this around the dogs muzzle, so it cannot bark.

When you walk out and it starts to bark, you wrap the tape around its muzzle, not to tight, but just enough so it can't yap its little head off.

After thirty minutes, take the tape off and give it a treat.

Repeat the procedure if it barks on the second go when you leave the place. After three times, the dog will associate no tape on its nose with a treat, providing it does not bark when you leave.

I have done this many times. I love dogs and I'm not cruel, but this is far better than putting them down and whacking them in the nose.

No point barking or trying to bark if you can't! Better off keeping my mouth shut for a treat
Oh my goodness this could be really dangerous for some breeds and in hot weather etc
Good luck. Let me know how you go
So Lauren, the dog thinks that you are giving him attention by shouting at him and smacking his nose. Remember, it Is a dog and albeit you smack and shout at him , he is getting the desired result.... your attention.

So this is how I have solved this problem before , and it is very effective....I've used a similar method on cockatoos that squawk their heads off to.

I'm sorry if anyone takes offence to my methods, but I will tell you any way.
Please tell me you do not shout and smack his nose? I highly recommend you use positive reinforcement, your dog has separation anxiety so will need some time, patience and training so he feels comfortable in his space.

How do I do it ? I thought you had to shout at them
I will put In a bid for telephone support, If it is true that you are shouting at him, please stop immediately. This can be making the situation worse. Happy to discuss a plan of attack over the phone. Failing that I can come out to you for a fee.
Ok. So when he barks, what do u do?
