I agree with Hank having spent years designing and making furniture.

To achieve this floating look you need considerable strength , and steel would give this.
Hi Kirsty,
Airtasker does not allow sharing of contact details until the task is assigned. If you were to cantilever with wood you would need to use solid or laminate timber of considerable thickness. You would still require steel brackets or extra support and as wood always has give, you would find with the weight and pressure of people leaning or sitting on it, it would move over time and the table will sag:(
Hi Kirsty,
Steel alone I have priced up at between $300-$400. This is before it is even welded or drilled. I will put in an offer because I am intrigued by the project. I apologize ahead of time if it is too high for you:)

Hi hank, could I maybe give you a call tomorrow please to discuss some options as I'm not entirely sure why I need the steel if the legs are just wood, I though you would maybe be able to just attach a bracket similar to what is currently there to attach 2 legs made of wood? I would even settle for 4 normal legs if it is a simpler project to complete.. would it be ok for me to give you a call tomorrow please? If so please let me know your number. Thank you
Hi Kirsty,
Have you seen the table or only the image? It appears to me the cantilever is made from box steel. You would most likely find there is an internal steel support and plate hidden under the table. The bottom half of the table is most likely boxed out not solid . You may even find the table is bolted to the floor, hence the cutouts in the rug. I can build this for you? Let me know your thoughts? Thanks Hank

Hi Hank, please see the attached photos for underneath the table. It isn't bolted to the floor as it is currently at my house but you are right about underneath the table. Could you please quote on how much it would cost please? Thank you
