Just a question what does it cost to re-gas generally
Hi Benjamin
There’s no definite price because it depends on-

What type of refrigerant.
What amount in kg of refrigerant.
Where the leak is
Where the units are located
Etc
But if it’s the usual leaking flare joint on a system with 1.5kg R410a refrigerant with the outdoor unit on the floor your looking at $350-$400...
Cheers Steve
Hi Craig,
That’s a good price from HI pages....to reclaim the gas from your old unit and fit the new one.
My price would be $150 to remove old and $500 cash for fitting new unit.
My only window would be one evening this week or Saturday AM.
After that I’m out till Jan 10th.
Yes I have all the required for warranty.
Thanks Steve.

Hi again. It would appear I've missed the boat somewhat with the guy from HI Pages. He's still willing to do it BUT he's now too busy and wouldn't get to us until around the 8th Jan. Wife not overly pleased with my progress (or lack thereof) on this matter!
Steve if you can do this job for us by Saturday we'll meet your price. If so I'll update the ad. Thx Craig.
Yes no problem 👍

now just require old unit removed.
Title "Aircon split system - remove broken unit"
Hi Craig
Does the old unit still run?
We have to get the refrigerant pumped down...
Also are you getting rid of the old system?
Regards Steve

Ok.
I will have to pull the refrigerant out of the old unit into a reclaim cyl.....that will cost me $100 to get rid of the refrigerant/cyl hire etc.

You will also need New pipework for the new unit as its on the new R32 gas.

Just to check, does the indoor head unit sit directly on the wall, behind the top capping?
So the indoor flares come out the wall?

The only reason is because it’s illigal to have flares inside the room on R32 systems in Victoria!
Regards Steve
Change this task to $150 Remove air con..
And I’ll install the new 1 for 500 cash....best I can do as AT charge 15% off my end!
Cheers

Hi Steve.
Apologies for the delay in responding, I've been tied up with the kids stuff all weekend.
I'm not quite sure where we are at with this as there has been a few messages sent through. To answer some questions...
The indoor head sits directly on the wall where the outside ducting enters through the brick.
I understand the current unit may be sitting too close to the vent on the the gas meter and may need to be shifted. The old aircon was there before we came along. I can install wall brackets to move the AC 1000mm from the gas meter vent. I would move it straight up from the current AC left of the duct work which is left of the Elect meter box.
I'm not sure what your best price is either. Is it $500 for the lot, or something more? Being new to TA I now understand why you suggested an edit. Happy to work something out for you but FYI through the Home Improvement Pages (HI Pages) service I had a quote for $500 from a heating & cooling company. I put him on hold until I explored AirTasker but in hind-sight it's probably a good price.
Finally, according to the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry paperwork, to ensure they provide the 5 year warranty they say "All equipment must be installed by a suitably licenced and qualified person" and their details and license numbers put on the warranty card. I'm guessing you can but would you be able to meet this requirement?
$150 to take out old system
$650 to fit new system.
Outdoor on a wall bracket as it’s currently too near the gas meter
Thanks Steve
How many kilowatt is the new air con? And old one?
Craig V.poster
Hi Joe. As I wrote in the description the old unit is a Fujitsu 2.5kW cooling (and maybe 3kW heating) with R410A refrigerant.
The new unit is a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries unit 2kW cooling (and 2.7kW heating with R32 refrigerant. Let me know if you require further details. Thanks Craig
