What does wedding photography include?
To get the wedding photography you want, it’s important to look carefully at the service offered. Each photographer has their own way of working. You might find differences in the length of time bookings last, the number of photos you get, and the editing process. Here’s what you may experience when researching and booking photography for your wedding:
Consultation and engagement shoot
To get the best photos on your special day, your photographer might arrange a meeting or call, or even an engagement shoot. This is an opportunity to get used to each other, share ideas about the type of photos you want (so you can create a shot list) and practice some poses. Your photographer will also need details about your venue, the day’s running order (so they can plan on being in the best position at all the right moments), and details for the family and bridal party shots.
On the day wedding photography
Booking your wedding photographer (or photographers) for the entire day will mean they’ll begin capturing key moments in the hours before your ceremony. They may shoot you getting your hair and makeup done, dressing for the occasion, and capture images of your accessories such as your shoes, bouquet and jewellery. They may also do a “first look” shoot of the bride and groom or photos of the bride and groom with their wedding parties and family members before the ceremony. Of course, you don’t have to have this. You may only want your wedding photographer to shoot from the ceremony onwards, and that’s okay, too.
Wedding shoot
After the service, your photographer will ask you and your partner to leave your guests for a short while so they can take photos of just the two of you. This is your official wedding photoshoot. Before calling you away, your photographer will have scoped out the most picture-perfect locations around your venue (taking lighting and backdrops into consideration) and will lead you there for your photos (whether you walk or drive). Once they have the photos they want, you’ll rejoin friends and family for any group shots. Depending on how many hours you’ve booked your photographer for, they’ll remain at the celebrations to capture all the special moments throughout the speeches, meal, and reception.
Photo editing and delivery
Most wedding photography services include photo editing and retouching. The number of edited images you get depends on the package offered by your photographer. Editing involves enhancements like colour balancing, adding effects, and touching up the image so it’s picture-perfect. Photos are delivered using a secure online gallery, on a USB, or sometimes both. Once you get your photos back you might also ask your photographer about other services such as custom album printing, canvas printing, or getting digital prints.

I’m happy to give you the best I can in the time I have with you, taking into consideration your budget and vision for your special day ☺️ We will have a phone conversation, so I can understand what’s a priority for you and your partner on the day, and make sure our time together is efficient 💕 Afterwards, I will edit the photos and place high resolution digital files in a private gallery for your to download. I do promise 60 photos minimum for each hour of my time, but I usually deliver more depending on what is happening at the event (example: I photographed a 3 hour baptism last week and delivered 380 photos because there were 100 guests). I will give you access to a professional print lab for 6 months, in case you want high quality wall art - it’s up to you whether you choose to use it or not. My editing style is bright and airy (not dark and moody). The turnaround time for photos is 2 weeks. Very promising before the day. Asked for reveal photos in the garden prior to wedding. Didn't get them. Was told the photos would be delivered and dropped off within a few days. Didn't happen. Was asked repeatedly to meet on tram line at odd timing. I did organise a drop off time but got called to work. Was at work the following day after trying to release the payment and got a message saying that it had been complained about. No questions about the quality of the photos. I don't like the 'edited' photos very much and the unedited aren't very good. I think most photographers talk to people and get everyone's attention before snapping away. The lack of communication means there isn't 1 good photo of my daughter, my husband and myself together.
