I am travelling around Australia in a camper van on a retirement "grey nomad" trip with a dog and a cat I rescued somewhere along the line. I need to go to Southport hospital to have some tests and knowing me, they might keep me in overnight as often tests take forever to come back. I'm sure it's nothing. I have suggested $50 per day (I am a pensioner and on a really tight budget). I supply beds, bowls, food & toys etc. Tutu (doggie) is very lively, but also very highly trained. There are some days that I don't take her for walks at all if I'm not feeling well, and she's awesome she just naps all day long, she'll just sit and stay if you tell her to. Neither of them are allowed on beds and couches (ok I occasionally sneak them lol lol) Alex (kitty cat) is an indoor cat only. He is also very well trained. However, knowing him, he'll probably spend the first few hours behind your couch sulking. If you just LEAVE HIM ALONE, he'll come out at dinner time for sure. Man does he love his dinner! I have had a few minders in different places in Australia, and if they try to pick the cat up before he's ready - he's super cranky. However, if you just leave him alone (and I mean don't pick him up the entire day), until dinner time, he'll come to you. If you go to him first, he is cranky. If you don't do anything, he'll eventually come & rubs your leg for dinner. He'll come to you, but you need to wait. Therefore if you have children, they need to REALLY KNOW to leave him alone until dinner time. Just open his carrier, and walk away. If you put the food and water bowls near the kitty litter (I supply the kitty litter tray) he'll know straight away where his kitty litter is. He's VERY good with the toileting. I would also ask that you'd be available for a couple of days, just in case I do get admitted to hospital for more tests (highly unlikely, but always want to have a backup plan just in case).
