What do cat sitting services include?

The cat sitting service includes all the tasks and activities necessary to care for your cat while you’re away. This involves feeding and medicating your cat if required, sending you updates, having some playtime and cleaning out their litter box as necessary.

Feeding and playing with your cat

Your hired cat sitter can go to your home to feed your cat. This may include cleaning your cat’s food and water bowls and cleaning them out after your cat has eaten. Your cat sitter can give your cat the prescribed amount of food, and even feed them only the food and amount you specify if they are on a strict diet.

Some cat sitters can provide the cat food should your supply run out, but this can cost extra. After their meal, your cat sitter can stay with your cat for a while to play with them and keep them from feeling sad or lonely. Some cat sitters make this part of the service package, but some may charge a little extra.

Giving them their medication

Your hired cat sitter can give elderly cats or cats with medical issues the medication they need. The cat sitter can give your cat eye drops, ear drops, feed them pills and apply most other medication your cat needs, all while following the prescribed dosage instructions. Some cat sitters may replenish the prescriptions should these run out, but they may charge a separate fee for this.

Sending updates

Thanks to smartphones and messaging apps, you don’t have to wonder or worry about your cat’s status every minute. Your cat sitter can send you updates in the form of pictures, video recordings, real-time videos or any combination of these sent to you through one of these apps. These updates of your cat can be sent each time your cat sitter goes to your home to check in on your beloved kitty.

Cleaning the litter box

With no one to clean the litter box, the house can foul up, and your cat may eventually refuse to use the litter box and do their business in random areas. To avoid this, your cat sitter can dispose of the used kitty litter and replace it with a fresh batch. This can be done as often as needed.

Other services

Some cat sitters may offer extra services for an additional fee. This can include cleaning out areas that your cat may have made a mess in, taking out the garbage, checking your mailbox and placing the mail on your counter, or bringing in any newspapers or packages that were left on your doorstep.

This can help keep up the impression that your house isn’t completely empty and deter any would-be intruders. But if you are also concerned with the security of your home while you’re away, consider hiring a house sitting service or house sitters.

Dog/Cat Sitter - Sunday 5/2- Saturday 11/2

$300

Frankston VIC, Australia

17th Dec 2022

Hello, I’m looking for someone reliable to look after our very small PomChi and large cat from Sunday 5th Feb to Saturday 11th Feb (7 days). Food will be provided for both! Our dog, Pixie - 9 years old - is usually indoors at night and I make sure she goes outside just before bedtime and first thing in the morning. She can have the occasional accident, especially in an unfamiliar environment as she can get a bit anxious. So it’s been if there are no carpets in your home or somewhere she can be that’s not too enclosed, that would be ideal! She’s a beautiful little girl and loves a safe enclosed backyard and a walk! Our cat, Indy - 12 years old - is gorgeous but will need to be kept indoors at your home as she may try to run away. It’s important she doesn’t escape out the door as she’s done this before! A reasonably large space would be good for her and I can supply a litter. She should take to this again, if shown. Both are vaccinated. If it goes well, we are also looking for a sitter in May - June for approximately 28 days as we’re going overseas. I’m a single parent but able to offer an additional $1000.00 for this plus food

Jae was great with our little pomeranian cross chihuahua, Pixie. She was very well looked after and we’d love to use her services again in future. Thank you!

Cat sitting x 2 cats: 15/6-20/6 or more

$100

Frankston VIC 3199, Australia

11th May 2022

Hi cat loving folks, I need someone very loving and kind to cat sit my 2 cats from 15/6-20/6 for this task, but maybe longer up to 2 weeks more if needed by private agreement. Reason is I have to move and don’t want them stressed during this time, and would also like a little time to set up the new place to avoid that stress. They are both very lovely natured , loving and funny. Though I think for a few days they will be timid. They are a funny pair of opposites, one is 15 yo and sleeps alot, and loves to cuddle and purrs alot! (Happy cat!) The other is a playful 5 yo, that loves to try to play with the old girl, but doesn’t get much of a response lol! They are both toilet trained, which of course I will bring, along with food and some toys, and their beds. Please only make an offer if: 1. There’s to definitely be no other pets , as they’ve not been around other pets and I don’t want them to get stressed doing so. 2. The environment is very calm and quiet. They’ve only ever had this. So please no loud noise. 3. They can be given free run of inside, and not to be let outside. 4. No smoking environment 5. That you are happy to send me daily pic/s as I will be missing them terribly. 6. That someone is home a lot, as they are used to me around a lot 7. That it is ok for them to sit on your furniture as they are always allowed on mine. You could always put down a blanket or towel if a little cat hair is a concern. I also have a cat tree they can sit on, and scratching poles I could bring. Please note, in 15 years my old girl (& young one) has never ever scratched my furniture as they have scratchy poles so don’t need to. 8. That they definitely only stay inside always. For I fear they may run away if let out.. I am happy to bring them to you anywhere within the SE or east suburbs. Please write in your offer what area you are from/ they will be. Also I would like to spend 15 mins with them every few days, when I drop off more food so they don’t feel abandoned. I did this with my last sitter and it made a huge difference to how relaxed they became after a visit from me. Rate offer: $10 a day/ per cat = $20 p/day X 5 days = $100. I supply all needed. Thank you.

Cat sitter in Melbourne needed

Seaford VIC 3198, Australia

19th Nov 2020

We are moving to NSW early December. We would like to keep our two beautiful cats Eddie and Sprinkles but would like to spare them from the stress of moving as we will be on the road for a number of weeks before we settle into a new home. We are thinking that it might be least of an impact if they could be temporarily cared for by someone else in Deco and Jan down here in Melbourne before having them flown up our way to re-unite with us. If anyone would be interested to help us out or knows anyone who would enjoy the company of two furry friends please please contact me. I would certainly provide everything neccessary to care for the cats during this time (food, etc) and would reimburse you for your troubles. We would be forever grateful 💜🙏🐱

Jen is an absolute gem. She is extremely knowlwdgeable about cats and cat behaviours, very gentle and loving. I would choose her any time again. Your cats won’t be in better hands than hers.

I’m looking for a cat sitter to look after a female 9 yo cat in your home. She’s shy at first but fine once she gets to know you. She doesn’t like other cats. :( I’d prefer a big property (as she’s used to) so she can roam around and catch mice for you! I’m happy to drive within 1-2hrs of Melb. I will provide food. She loves to be outside, but a nice spot inside for bad weather please. Need sitter For 2 weeks. I will require regular pics and texts to confirm she’s fine. :)
