What are the new requirements for Digital Platforms?<\/h2>\n

The UK is signed up to the OECD Model Reporting Rules for Digital Platforms (MRDP). This is legislation that impacts electronic distribution platforms or EDPs. These include online platforms like Airtasker and others that supply services such as asset hire, food delivery, and ride-sourcing.  <\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction of this legislation means that Airtasker is now required to collect and report certain information to HMRC, including income earned through the platform. <\/span><\/p>\n

As the sharing economy continues to grow, the MRDP aims to build transparency around transactions on electronic platforms like Airtasker and is designed to help taxpayers be compliant with their tax obligations while ensuring a level playing field with traditional businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do these changes mean for me?<\/h2>\n

Due to recent legislative changes, electronic distribution platform operators, like Airtasker, are required to collect certain information and report on earnings made through Airtasker to HMRC. <\/span><\/p>\n

What do I need to do?<\/h2>\n

To help us comply with these new obligations, Taskers will be required to complete an easy, 2-step account verification process:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Verify your identity<\/li>\n
  2. Submit your tax information<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How do I verify my account?<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Log into your Airtasker account<\/strong>
      \nOpen the Airtasker app or website and log in with your credentials.<\/li>\n
    2. Access settings<\/strong>
      \nClick on your profile picture to open the menu, then select ‘Settings.’<\/li>\n
    3. Select ‘Verify Account’<\/strong>
      \nIn the Settings menu, find and click on ‘Verify Account.’<\/li>\n
    4. Verify your identity<\/strong>
      \nFollow the on-screen instructions to complete the identity verification process.<\/li>\n
    5. Submit your tax information<\/strong>
      \nProvide the necessary tax information as prompted.<\/li>\n
    6. Complete the verification<\/strong>
      \nClick ‘Finish Verifying Your Account’ to finalise the process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note: Although you can continue to make offers and complete tasks, if your account is unverified <\/span>from 30 October 2024<\/b>, <\/span>all payouts will be withheld until your account is fully verified.<\/b><\/div>\n
