What does a professional nanny service include?

Need to find a nanny near you but don’t know what’s included in the service? While nannies mainly help look after your children, there’s a lot more they can do, as well. Here are some tasks your nanny will help with:

Your nanny’s primary role is to take care of your children - ensuring they’re safe and that their basic needs are being met. This includes food, water, hygiene, toileting/nappies, naptime, and more. To ensure your child is safe, most nannies undergo First Aid and CPR training, but they’ll also know when to call parents and 000 in case of an emergency.

If your nanny has their own car and licence, they may help with taking your kids to and from school, swimming lessons, music lessons, play dates, and other activities. As well as this, they’ll help accompany your child where needed and get them ready to go.

    Meal prep

Your nanny will prepare meals and snacks for your child at their usual times or packed lunches to take to school. If your child has any special food preferences, intolerances, or allergens, you’ll need to let your nanny know so they can plan accordingly. Some nannies may help with picking up groceries and supplies for meals during their shift, but it will depend on your arrangement.

Many nannies have studied child development and are experienced in working with children at all ages. Your nanny will use their understanding of your child’s development, combined with observation to choose education and play-based activities that support their learning and interests. This might involve outside time, trips to the park, museum or library outings, books, games, and toys. If you have school-aged children, your nanny may also offer basic tutoring for homework and assignments.

    Light housework

If your nanny has time, they may also help out with light housework tasks, like packing away toys, folding the washing, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning and disinfecting toys, cleaning the children’s play areas and bedrooms, sterilising bottles, and so on. Usually, any housework your nanny does will closely relate to caring for your children (and cleaning up the messes they make!).

    Babysitter/Nanny wanted

    23rd Nov 2018

Hello everyone! Me and my wife would like someone to start taking care of our little baby daughter. She is 18 months old. We have no one in Australia so she was never before left alone with anyone else. She is very social and friendly with new people though. Since we decided my wife will come along with me when ever required and help with my tradie projects, we need someone to start getting familiar with her and then hired on more regular basis. We would also like to go out sometime, so there might be couple of hours in the evening required, occasionally. Our daughter bed time is at 7pm and she sleeps through the night without waking up, so you should basically just seat in the house while she sleeps. Please ask anything you need! Cheers!

Romina is very nice young lady. She is kind and my daughter had a nice time with her. I will definitely use her service again.

Casual Nanny available evenings and weekends

    Altona North VIC 3025, Australia

    26th Aug 2018

I'm looking 🔎 for a warm family (with children between 3 and 13 years old 👦👧) that needs extra help during evenings or weekends around the house and with the children. I'm a reliable, enthusiastic, creative and easy going 29 year old lady. I really enjoy share time with kids in and outdoors, playing creatives games according with their age 🎲 (to practice numbers, letters, words), making handicrafts, bu painting 🎨, going to the park...they will be busy and never bored 🙃. Working with children has been a lovely experience, I've done it for over than 3 years 👩‍👧‍👦. Here in Australia it's a good opportunity for me to practice English while I do easier mams and dads life, helping with care of their children and home stuff (cleaning, cooking, petsitter 🐶🐱). Rate from 20/hr. I'm based on Altona North (west suburb), but I have my own car 🚗 that make distances shorter 😊. I have police check and references 😊. Please send me a PM if you have any questions or want to have a chat 💬 Regards!

    Yarraville VIC 3013, Australia

    22nd Apr 2019

I'm looking for a nanny/babysitter from 9-5ish tomorrow (Tues 23rd Apr) to help look after our 2y9mth and 5mth old girls. I will be home as well but have hurt my back so can't lift anything and will need time to rest. Ideally start at 9 and finish 7ish. In addition to keeping the kids happy, if you've got time I'd like you to tidy up after the kids, prep their meals and put a load of washing on. I'd like people with nanny experience only to apply thanks.

I was looking for a nanny to help out with my 2 little girls throughout the day as I had injured my back. Fiona was a perfect fit from the moment she walked in. My 2yr old adored her and 5month old loved being around her. Fiona offered to help where she could and even though it was hard to ask for the help I needed...Fiona made me feel comfortable straight away. She did my washing and some cleaning in the little spare time she had and was exactly what I was hoping for. Very hard working and super friendly! She will be my go to from now on :) Thanks Fiona x
